St. Vincent de Paul

Our aim is to bring the healing mind, compassion and understanding, acceptance, encouragement and availability. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul helps the poor through visitation, food vouchers, food box program, clothing vouchers, furniture and our Christmas program. Our founding Father F. Ozanam said, “Let us be patient, and wait for their questions and opinions that will come if they find we are good and will listen to them.” If you would like to volunteer with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, contact the parish office. A police reference check is required to participate in this Ministry.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul now has new blue colored envelopes available on the table in the Narthex. If you would like a tax receipt for your monthly contributions to our poor box, please feel free to use these envelopes.

If you require food assistance, please call 289-300-1023 and a representative will contact you.

FURNITURE DONATIONS:  The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Mary Mother of God Parish will accept offers of furniture donations.   Please contact the church office and a SSVP volunteer will in turn contact you.  If we cannot accept the donation,  we will refer you to St. Michael’s Parish at 905-844-7971 as they have a storage facility and may be interested in your furniture donation.  St.  Michaels’ parish also supports Dr. Simone’s Food for Children organization and can accept appliances, dishes, books, clothing,  toys,  etc.  Please contact their parish for further information.

USED CLOTHING:  Please do not drop off clothing items at Mary Mother of God Parish.  We do not have the storage for these items.  Used clothing drives are held twice a year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring.  Watch for notices regarding our upcoming Clothing Drives.

SPRING CLOTHING DRIVE – SOCIETY OF SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL: Please drop off clothes on Friday, April 21st, Saturday, April 22nd, and Sunday April 23rd (9-4 pm and before/after all masses). The families rely on the clothing drives to meet their clothing requirements. We gratefully accept your donations of gently used clothing and shoes. Please clean and sort clothing and label each bag according to gender and size (i.e. Ladies size M, Boys 4-6x etc.) Special requests for children and infants clothing and Ladies Size XL-XXL. **We cannot accept any household items, books or toys. Thank you for your support, your SSVP Volunteer Team.
