Confirmation
GENERAL INFORMATION: Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in September of each calendar year. Confirmation is celebrated in Grade 7 (as of September 2013) and not in Grade 8 as in the past. Students enrolled in the Catholic School system will prepare for Confirmation as part of their academic religion program. Students enrolled in a Public or Private school, must complete Catholic religious instruction. Mary Mother of God Parish offers a catechetical program through correspondence. Students who have not received catholic religious instruction between Sacrament years (Grade 2 and Grade 7) are required to complete one additional year of religious instruction (Grades 5 ) in addition to Grade 7 in order to be properly prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADE 7 & GRADE 8 students from Holy Family school, St. Marguerite d’Youville School and St. Andrew School as well as our parish catechetical students who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation in January and February 2013. Thank you to Bishop Douglas Crosby, Bishop Anthony Tonnos, Fr. John Van Hees, Mrs. Kim van den Heuvel, our Grade 7 & Grade 8 Catholic School teachers, our parish Catechetical teachers and all those who helped to make the celebrations a great success! May God Bless our young students on their continued journey of spiritual growth!
